Ello is an invite-only ad-free social network that calls itself as “anti-Facebook” . The Burlington-based social network was co-founded by artists Todd Berger, Lucian Föhr, and Paul Budnitz who got the idea after getting exhausted by social networks that were just all about the ads. Neither of them is a first-time entrepreneur: Berger and Föhr run a design firm http://bergerfohr.com/, and Budnitz is the founder of Budnitz Bicycles and art toy company Kidrobot.
One of the crucial things that make it unique (apart from the no ad policy) is the clean, basic black and white design. Ello allows you to organize your followers by “Friends” and “noise” allowing you to keep a clean and interesting newsfeed that isn’t full of unwanted material. Similar to other popular social networks, Ello is all about sharing your story and what is going on around you in a short message that will be send to your friends on Ello.
The Ello service claims several notable distinguishing features such as a) Never sell user data to advertisers or third parties b)Never show advertisements c) Not enforce a real-name policy d) Maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward so-called abusive behaviours (hate speech, trolling, stalking, …)
ELLO INVITE CODES
The social network was previously private but has recently opened its doors to other members allowing any user that has an invitation code to join this new simple, beautiful and ad-free social network. In fact, Ello invites are so hot right now that they are selling for $150 on EBay. But there are several other ways to get it for free. Users are tweeting out invitation codes like crazy (Twitter). Reddit too has an incredibly friendly community and many users on social media are friendly enough to give a code or two away.
You might have noticed that as of now, the best way to get in Ello is via social networks – So Check out this fb page where you may find one: https://www.facebook.com/techews
