Motorola Moto G is a cut-down version of the famous Moto X which was the first Android smartphone from Motorola based on Google’s ideology and thoughts, post its acquisition. This phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 4 ARM Cortex A7 CPU cores and Adreno 305 GPU. It also has 1 GB of RAM and will have either 8GB or 16GB of internal storage space.
Moto G sports a 4.5″ HD IPS LCD touchscreen with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels that gives an effective pixel density of 326 PPI. Design wise, Moto G will inherit the curved design from its elder sibling – Moto X and will have changable back covers but the plastic quality will be cut down as per the price tag. The device is 11.6 mm thick and weighs 143 Grams.
This phone has a 5 MP auto-focus primary camera on the rear which can record videos in HD 720p resolution ie 2592 x 1944 pixels resolution and also has a 1.3MP front camera with 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution, which could be used for video calling. The cameras offer face detection, touch to focus, image viewer etc. Other features of the camera includes touch focus, HDR image capture, geo-tagging, face detection, etc. on the front The phone also support playback of common multimedia formats including, but not limited to MP3, MP4, WAV, AAC, AVI, etc.
Motorola Moto G is running on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system without any UI customizations as seen on Android devices from other handset manufacturers. Since the phone is targeted towards emerging markets, it has FM radio feature too. The phone has connectivity features such as dual SIM card slots, 21Mbps HSDPA 3G, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.0 A2DP LE, Micro USB v2.0 and USB Host.
Motorola Moto G has 1 GB of RAM alongside 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage. There is no microSD card slot which is a let down as other manufacturers are providing storage expansion options in this price range. This Android smartphone is equipped with a 2070 mAh Li-Ion battery which can last more than a day since the software is very optimised as per Motorola’s claims.
